no sound

Tue Nov 03, 2015 12:58 am
I get no sound on Amarok or other music/video software on Debian testing Dell XPS8700, works on Debian stable emachines

tried both VLC and gstreamer backend in Phonon configuration in Amarok, xine backend isn't in repository

more of a KDE question, but there isn't a general multimedia help board as far as I saw

probably the testing version of Debian or my hardware

when I switched the backend of Phonon to gstreamer in amarok the sound test worked but no sound in apps, switched some things around and can't get the sound test now

Please check your basic sound settings, namely, in that order:

install alsamixer and make sure you have no muted channel
check you have no muted channels in Pulseaudio
check if you have any muted channels in Kmix

Moving this to Multimedia general, as it has nothing to do with Amarok

FWIW: there has been no working Xine backend in over 5 years...

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...
