Code: Select all
mint@mint ~ $ sudo apt install kdelibs-bin kdelibs5-data kdelibs5-plugins
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?
mint@mint ~ $

So we have sudo and apt installed and running, but apt isn't working. If you're sure there is no package being installed/update running in the background, you can try removing the lock:
Code: Select all
sudo rm /var/lib/dpkg/lock

If it works, then run "sudo apt …" again and it should install the packages.

Code: Select all
mint@mint ~ $ apt install kdelibs-bin kdelibs5-data kdelibs5-plugins
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?
mint@mint ~ $

Same as above

Code: Select all
mint@mint ~ $ su -
Password:

That password isn't a problem since sudo works. I'd have guessed "mint" or "root".

I'll give it a whirl in a bit. Thanks.
