KDE 5 Plasma is really beautiful and after installing it, it worked just great. i booted up the next day and the xserver said i no longer had the correct settings. i've been able to get it to work with Vesa but of course the display area is no longer 1920 x 1040 or whatever it's supposed to be.

Code: Select all
inxi -Fz

When i try to run Synaptic, for example, from a Terminal, i get...

Code: Select all
synaptic
Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module"
No protocol specified

(synaptic:14893): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0

i've pretty much spent all day trying to set up the nvidia card correctly, but it seems that it only wants to work with Vesa at this point. i've begun to think i need a newer video card - lol, but this one was working just fine under KDE4, so i'm not sure really what to do now.

Have a great evening! :)
