How can I easily and quickly select the active audio device.
I'm using kde neon with plasma version 5.9.4. The audio settings seem to be a bit of a mess. To switch from an usb dac to the internal sound card, I need to open a settings panel, have a audio stream already playing and then change the device, which can't be the right way to do this. The audio pull-down widget should be redesigned? |

Hi!
You may choose the device order with Audio-Settings. Just type "phonon" in KRunner and set your preferred order. If one of the devices is not present it should switch to the next one as default device. |

The phonon menu doesn't seem to give any quick way to select an audio device on the fly either.
Looks like it works similarly as the plasma Audio Volume Settings menu. |

So both audio devices are always connected and you just want to switch between them on the fly?
I do not know any widget to fit your needs, but perhaps you may use some terminal commands or aliases to change defaults in shell. You should have a look at

Found a bug report with similar concerns as mine.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=371587 Hope the plasma team will take a look at the system sound UI. |
