Hi,

Is it possible to autoplay discs without the Device Notifier appearing, similarly to Windows, automatically opening a program when a disc type (eg. audio) is detected?

Thanks.

Not as far as I know, such a behavior could actually be seen as a security risk in the *nix world.

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

Thanks. Despite this, I would like a setting to change this! It does not need to be default behavior.

I am in no way knowledgeable enough about this, but I guess this would have to be done on the lower level before any application could have an autoplay function. I don't know any application that could currently do this, and I bet there are fail-safes in KDE or Linux that would actually prevent this.

Actually, because Kubuntu is essentially Ubuntu with KDE, it should be possible I think!

If I search "Ubuntu autoplay", it does exist!

You realize these instructions are not exactly new (almost 10 years old), and are specific for a rather old Gnome version. There currently is no such option available in Plasma 5, at least not one I know of.

I am aware this is an old article, but it was once (and may still be) possible in gnome. I am also a new user of Kubuntu, so I am not aware *nix in-depth. Although Kubuntu does not have this, I am proposing this be included in the future if possible.
