Well, first off, I've spent weeks looking for google solutions with no avail.
Description. It's pretty straightforward, about the first 3 or 4 seconds of ANY sound sample(or track) given by ANY KDE app (amarok, the startup, etc) is butchered(skips a bunch, cuts out, etc) then it's fine for the rest of the sample(or track). It's not my music files as they played fine on the old amarok and the startup sounds were fine on the old kde's, and they work fine on windows. Basic information: KDE..4.2? Whatever the latest Fedora release is. I don't entirely know how to check that one. Fedora 10 Preview(was fedora 10 beta when it first happened) x86-64 Uhh, dunno what else to tell ya. Wondering if anyone else has come across this problem and have found a solution.

I found this thread on the fedoraforums. Maybe that is related.
You should try to change the used backend to see if that problem still remains. (systemsettings -> sound -> backend, and then choose another one) |

yesterday i installed kubuntu intrepid on a friends computer.. he uses the digital output of his soundcard.. first of all it wasn't enabled in kmix so it was not obvious why there was no sound in the first place... then we encountered the same problem as described... there is somehow a delay when starting music or else..
i will ask him to set the digital output at "default" in backends and see what it does.. (and report here)

KDE-4.1.3. Anyway, this is most likely audio driver bugs exposed by pulseaudio. (Similar to how qt4/kde4, esp when used with compositing, is very good at exposing video driver bugs). Question then: what audio hardware/driver are you using? |
