missing Phonon Audio and Volume tab

Sun Oct 27, 2019 9:40 pm
Recently installed a minimal version of kubuntu
noted that the system settings tab for Phonon Audio and Volume was not installed
i.e. the tab that shows the phonon backend installed options
currently have phonon-backend-gstreamer installed
and thought that phonon4qt5-backend-gstreamer would be that tab... but not so
what needs to be installed (for that missing tab)?
thanks!

The Multimedia KCM has changed in Plasma 5.17.x and now only displays Audio CD related settings. They should have changed the name....

For Phonon settings, check out the Audio tab instead.

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

After talking to the devs: this appears to be a presentation issue in System Settings, it should be just Multimedia as a top-level choice, and Audio and Volume as well as Audio CDs should be under this. I'll check if there already is a bug report about it.

Ahhh... Mamarok! Thank you for the follow-up!
[I love you. Not in a weird-stalker-way. Merely in a kindly way because (a) you were the first person to greet me on this forum and (b) whenever I see your posts... I pay attention. In my books... you're a legend!]
Anyways...
I'm not so sure that this is a bug. It's why a mentioned the minimal install because when i run the live-iso-image-usb and select the 'Try' option, all the necessary tabs related to Multimedia are grouped there. Leads me to think that it is some kio-kinda-app that I need to install that the minimal option neglects to provide...

Currently there are the Audio and Multimedia options but the latter only displays Audio CD configs...

(Also, should be noted that the subject line should have stated... missing Phonon Audio and Video tab)

RESOLVED!
I was reconsidering the fact that the live-iso-image-usb and the 'Try' option work--and installs correctly--while the minimal install had a problem
so...
quickly backed-up a few folders and did another fresh minimal install
[I've experienced before where the same input media on the same device can on occasion, provide different end results... weird but it is what it is]
and voilà, the Multimedia tab is now how it is meant to look
namely that it contains the CD, Audio and Volume tabs
