Hello everyone,
I made the switch from Ubuntu software to KDE Neon recently and I am absolutely blown away by how good it is! I do have a few issues, however - one of which is the audio on my HP Laptop. It's very tinny and soft. I think it's a driver issue. I seem to remember having this problem on Ubuntu and somehow getting the correct drivers installed. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks.

Which exact Plasma version?
Which laptop, what audio card?
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

still, if this is a driver issue, what Audio card do you use?

Thanks, Mamarok. The only information I have is the following: From AlsaMixer: Card: HD-Audio Generic Chip: IDT 92HD87B2/4 From the specs of my computer on the HP website: Sound: Altec Lansing Dual Speakers I installed PulseAudio mixer and did some tweaking. It makes a bit of a difference, but I don't get the same spacial feel as when in Windows. I think it's due to Dolby sound not being fully implemented in KDE Neon.

ah well, proprietary tweaks like Dolby are unlikely to be implemented in Linux (not a KDE problem, btw, a general Free Software one). Mabe asking Dolby do open their specs could be an idea... Linux is not a supported platform as you can see here: https://developer.dolby.com/

Thanks for your help. Actually, now I have a new problem - my laptop volume controls don't work. That includes volume up, down and mute. I have sound, but I can't control it with the buttons on my computer any more. Any ideas? Thank you.

I found the solution to loss of volume controls below. I needed to reboot, too:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/567497/ ... ing-in-kde Volume is still VERY low at 100%. Frustrating... Oh well.
