I have a cheap Chinese Bluetooth speaker which works well with my phone. When it comes to KDE I find I can connect to it (the speaker tells me it has connected as well) but when I play audio it just comes out my local speaker on the computer and not on the remote Bluetooth speaker. I was thinking it could be a group problem so I added myself to numerous groups but no help.
I'll post some pictures below that hopefully show the situation. I have gone into pavucontrol in order to try to switch the output but nothing Bluetooth related appears there either. (These are links to images as the images are more than 720 pixels wide which the forum does not like) https://i.imgur.com/YOHMYfU.png https://i.imgur.com/Fa1Vgk2.png https://i.imgur.com/N2PuPS3.png And some screenshots of Blueman: https://imgur.com/5ecnwfM.png https://imgur.com/8rTbzBm.png https://imgur.com/7X3Rqdn.png https://imgur.com/dA9AY2P.png I'd be grateful for any suggestions of how to fix this. It's KDE Plasma Version 5.8.6, KDE Frameworks version 5.28.0. Thanks. |

When you play audio, in the SystemTray, klick on the volume icon and in the Applications tab select the bluetooth speaker as output for that specific application. Works fine here with a Xiaomi Bluetooth speaker.
FWIW: Blueman is not a KDE application... FWIW2: you have pretty outdated Plasma version, maybe you should update your distribution...
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Hi, this machine is running Devuan hence the older versions.
I have the volume set to maximum but still find no sound comes out of the speaker. I attach 2 more screenshots to assist: https://imgur.com/u8R2vcK https://imgur.com/boUg7vr If you think this is a lost cause feel free to say so. |

Hm, that is weird, you should have only one instance if this playing, or do you indeed have 4 different streams open? Also there should be an option in the applications tab to select the output device, but maybe this is due to the Plasma version.
In System Settings -> Hardware -> Audio -> Advanced Tab you can test your bluetooth speaker.

Hi, I've tried the things you mentioned. I only have 1 stream.
I think this is more an issue with my distro than KDE so I'm happy to let this pass by. Thanks. |

I am having the same problem. All local apps work fine but nothing from the browser. Seems like it could be fixed if it were possible to manage the audio output for specific apps..

but of course you can, click on the Volume button in the System Tray and select the output for the application currently playing. So unless you have a very antiquated Plasma this just works...
