Can't change Phonon backend

Thu Jan 13, 2022 7:39 am
Running Ubuntu Server 18.04 with a xfce GUI Desktop. I've installed phonon:amd64 (4:4.10.0-2). Phononsettings isn't available for Ubuntu 18.04 - only for 20 and newer. Help is appreciated.

Well, yes, that's the problem: you use a heavily outdated system when it comes to Plasma, and the phonon version you have installed is for a previous Plasma version. I fear we can't help you with this other than telling you to upgrade. Try asking in an Ubuntu specific forum, maybe there are PPAs that could help.

FWIW: Ubuntu Server is exactly that: a server version, not aimed at the desktop.

FWIW2: your badge says you use Linux Mint...

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...
