Hey, everyone!
Kaffeine works great with my TV tuner, and I wanted to use a Raspberry Pi to stream TV over my network, so I can watch from a tablet or phone. It's way more convenient than having a TV in places where it makes little sense to have one. And while Kaffeine uses libVLC, VLC itself can't play (and stream) TV because it tries to use the tuner in some way that is unsupported. So I thought I could just take a look at the source code and try to figure out how Kaffeine uses the VLC backend. But as I don't know C++, it proved to be far from trivial for me. I initially tried to figure this out in the VLC forums, but apparently they can't give better error messages because "The Linux DVB API is such that userspace can't tell which one, unfortunately." And with that coming from a VLC developer, I can only assume it's pretty much out of their hands to point me out in the right direction. Can anyone help? |
