When I try to take a screenshot with Spectacle, I have difficulty (sometimes not possible) in locating the faded screenshot gui away from being part of my image.
Not sure I have sharing set properly here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/pqzh4v42bwpih ... 2.jpg?dl=0 but what I'm talking about shows in the upper right of the saved image. It is the spectacle gui, slightly transparent. I must be missing something very simple.. I'm on Gentoo linux, up to date KDE. thanks, JD

I'm not sure what you mean. If I'm getting it right, every time you take a screenshot with spectacle, part of the spectacle window shows up in the screenshot? Because if that's the case, there's something wrong. Spectacle, or part of it, shouldn't show up at all. Or do you mean when you want to blur or pixelate part of the screenshot? https://imgur.com/a/ONcK53i

Yes, that's right. Sometimes I can reposition it by moving around the gui before the screenshot and getting the resultant gui artifact out of image. Otherwise it is a pain or not possible. But the gui becomes somewhat transparent when positioning for the shot and remains in the image. |

That's weird. But, in case you want to take a screenshot of a certain part, why not use "rectangular". In either case, part of the window shouldn't be there. Unless you're taking a screenshot of an already opened spectacle window ( set to allow multiple instances of spectacle) of course. This is what I mean, a spectacle screenshot of an already opened spectacle window. In your case that might be semi-transparent in case that is set in system settings ( transparency of non-active windows).https://imgur.com/a/mZZqDGT

That's really weird. That window shouldn't be there at all. Does it occur if you add a delay as well? What happens if you set the application style to breeze?

As a sidenote. Till this solved, you could use ksnip. Very similar with more options. https://imgur.com/a/j9fbopP

I checked and apparently other users have the same problem. It mostly occurs when launching spectacle from keyboard. Launching it from menu, not so much. And using a delay might help too.https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=376865

Dzon - you're a big help. This has annoyed me for a long time and I finally asked about it. I tried launching from the menu (I usually use Alt+F2, the krunner) but it didn't seem to help the one time I tried. But yes, adding a delay does fix it. Before asking here I did look through the bug list but must have missed it. And I have to get more tuned up on Reddit. Should I edit my original post to show "Solved" ? Perhaps I will anyway unless there is a preferred method. thanks again, JD |
