Hi,
Sorry for my english, I have the last kernel installed
One dvd (/dev/sr0) and cdrom (/dev/sr1). Two players is functionnally state (with other soft). I have upgrade kde 3.5 to kde 4 (the version mandriva 2009). For the first use after de upgrade, kaudio rip and encode with sr0. I have use the sr1 for test, ansd the result is ok. In the second time, i rip the cd audio in sr0 and i have a message error " The process for the audiocd protocol died unexpectadly " and in /var/log/messages, i have this message
I use the sr1 and the ripping is very very slow, but encoding is normal. I search help . Is-it possible a bug for kaudiocreator or distribution ? Thank you |

This is a message from the Kernel, therefore it is a bug in the Linux Kernel ( or more likely, in one of Mandriva's patches to it )

Don't know about Mandriva but I has similar problems with two drives and OpenSuse 11.1 to the extent that I gave up on KAudioCreator on that machine. On a new IBM x3400 with single DVDRW drive and 64 bit OpenSuse 11.1 KAudiocreator falls down if I wish to rip all tracks on a CD. It will on occasions rip one track but will never work if all track are selected. I have reported the two drive problem as a bug in Opensuse but after giving all machine info requested nothing has been done. I have now given up on KAudiocreator and use Grip. With this I can use cdparanoia 10.2 for ripping and Lame for encoding. |

burgus: try Grip or sound-juicer, they are both in the Mandriva repos. (I don't think it's a kernel issue, IMBW though).
