Hello guys,
I'm using kde 4.2 on ubuntu 4.2. I would like to have thumbnail video preview of my video using dolphin but I cannot get nothing running. I've take a look at mplayerthumbs but I cannot compile it. I get this error msg:MakeFiles/videopreview.dir/videopreview.o:(.data.rel.ro._ZTI12VideoPreview[typeinfo for VideoPreview]+0x18): undefined reference to `typeinfo for ThumbCreator' Is there any "official" way to get video preview in dolphin ? Thanks a lot Bye Marcello |

The KDE4 version of mplayerthumbs isn't available for Intrepid via the normal repos. You can get it from my PPA though:

Thanks for the Intrepid package... I am delighted to have my video previews back. I am wondering why a phonon plugin has not yet been developed for dolphin, however. Phonon's VideoWidget in KDE 4.2 added support for taking snapshots, so I would assume it would be easy to implement the plugin thumbnailer. The mplayer workaround is definitely usable, but it would be nice to see 100% KDE integration.

can anyone change /usr/bin/mplayerthumbsconfig to another name?
so it doenst compete with mplayer binary, if this is for kde.. why not kdethumbsconfig its really annoying... |

It uses MPlayer for its backend, hence it is called "mplayerthumbs" since it doesn't do anything KDE specific ( it simply produces an image which KDE then grabs and displays I think )
