I've been trying to get comfortable with working on FreeBSD instead of
Linux but I've run into a mysterious problem. When I play a vorbis file with a KDE application the program skips like an extremely scratched CD. I've tried adjusting the sound system in the controll center but that didn't do any good. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? It only seems to apply to ogg vorbis files.

aRtS was an extremely broken sound system. I remember that all aRtS related bugs in KDE were closed as "WONTFIX" a couple of Months ago. In addition it is also unmaintained by its original author. Therefore it is unlikely the problem will be fixed in the future.
The only thing I can recommend is using another Audio format or using another application that does not use aRtS to play sound.
