Slow resizing of terminal window

I have a strange problem when resizing the size of the terminal window. As root all works fine but as a normal user it works really slow. Other windows resize just fine.
I have no extra multimedia settings on but the onces that auto activate with my 3D card.

Any clues what (setting) might be wrong?
