I'm using openSUSE 11.1 64 bits with kde 4.2.2. Every now and then, on startup I get an error that the sound system cannot be used and kde will use instead... well, I've never been able to read the full message.
When this message pops up, the system become mute, BUT if I kill pulseaudio the sound returns.
I read here that many people say "uninstall pulseaudio"... problem is, I use the 32 bits flash player plug-in and I think nspluginwrapper needs pulseaudio to reproduce sound, so... other than installing the pre alpha 64 bits flash player, what can I do?
I'm using xine backend in phonon and the pulseaudio is NOT enabled in yast. The system use snd-hda-intel as sound controller.
Thanks

Nspluginwrapper doesn't need pulseaudio. The libflashsupport (I think that's the name...) does however. BUT only if you use version 9.x of flash. It's not necessary for the 10.x version.

Still, the 64-bit plugin is in my experience very stable. I haven't had any problems with it.

OpenSUSE 11.4, 64-bit with KDE 4.6.4
