I'm using Debian SID with KDE 4.2.2 Strange thing is that when I logging to KDE I get the welcome sound. Right after that I'm getting an error stating that my sound device is not working and its falling back to default. After that I have no more sound. When shutting down the computer the goodbye sound in KDE works again.

The sounddevice:
debian:/# cat /proc/asound/card*/codec* | grep Codec
Codec: Realtek ALC268
Codec: Motorola Si3054
debian:/# lspci | grep -i audio
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03)
debian:/#

But since it initially works I guess this is not driver related but KDE. Any ideas how to fix this?
