I have started testing KDE 4.2 to see if it can drag me away from my long term Fluxbox use, and so far it's going well with just a few hitches.
I have several audio devices for playback: * Soundblaster (PCI) under emu10k1 as card 0 * On-board Intel under hda-intel as card 1 * USB Tascam US-122 as card 2 * There's also a web cam microphone at card 3 but that's not relevant in this case. Under the sound settings for KDE, which I assume is hooking phonon, it can see the Soundblaster, the Intel card and will even connect to JACK if I have it running. It won't see the USB card however so I can't choose to use that for output. As a workaround I'm using JACK connected to the USB card but this isn't really the way I want to run if I can go direct to the card. Can anyone suggest a fix for this? Thanks for any pointers, Matt.

Does it appear if you tick the "Advanced Devices" checkbox?

Unfortunately not. Sorry about the slow turnaround - it seems my subscription settings didn't take.

When you compiled Phonon, did it complain about any missing development libraries?
It could also possibly be that Phonon doesn't know about USB sound cards yet...

The build process looks fine, I have submitted a bug.
