I am not able to play tracks with last.fm anymore in amarok 2.1.1. It used to work in 2.1. I use kubuntu karmic with kde 4.3 rc1.

Checking the login capabilities from the configure amarok -> internet services works. Please Help.

Isn't karmic the _next_ version of (k)ubuntu? I seem to recall it is, and as such you should expect problems more or less frequently until it's reached beta or rc-status. I also seem to recall that there is a pre-release sub-forum over at ubuntu-forums.org which could probably be a better bet to get help regarding unreleased versions of kubuntu.

FWIW, playing tracks with last.fm works in Amarok 2.1.1. and 4.3 rc1 (doing it right now) so it's unlikely to be a regression in either. It may only be temporary until the next update in their repos.

Can you play music through Amarok otherwise?

Last.fm switched to a subscription model for radio, and as a result can only be played in Amarok now if you have the appropriate subscription. They provide a free trial of 50 songs, which you have possibly used up.

Ok. So after this trial period is over I need to subscribe for using anything with last.fm ?

You can still "love" tracks I believe. You may wish to check Last.fm's site and the Amarok blog ( amarok.kde.org ) for more information.

If that's the reason, they must think I'm a subscriber...I've easily played more than 50 songs through their radio-service (not counting "loveing" tracks and scrobbling of local tracks, which I think are meant to be free) the last month alone and it still works and I've never even considered subscribing to their service.

Still, if that's the reason: shouldn't Amarok alert you to why it can play last.fm radio anymore?

Quite interesting.... it may be unrelated then. Please do check the last.fm website and amarok blog regarding this however.

You may wish to ask the Amarok developers about this problem on the amarok-devel@kde.org mailing list.
