i want to watch movies with 5.1 sound in dragon player and not kde apps on my box
i have onboard sound card that appears as a line in phonon settings some onboard cards allow to switch the line in and mic ports to suport more speakers. ho its done in kde ? (if my board supports this) i have a pci audio card with 2 speaker outs + line in and mic in. i can choose either one of the speaker outs in phonon settings and it works. how can i set the 2 speaker outs + speaker out on the onboard card to support 5.1 speakers together ? how are dragon player and video lan configured to use all of the speakers when appropriate ? |

You would need to use a specific command to enable the switch for line in / microphone and it would likely require root access.
I do not know if Phonon support 5.1 sound, although it is likely up to the backend.

You need to configure the backend appropriately. This seems like it may help: http://alsa.opensrc.org/SurroundSound
