Movie manager

Mon Aug 24, 2009 6:17 pm
Hi,

I'm looking for a good movie manager for my local movie collection, but so far no luck. Most important requirements are:

* Automatically index files on HDD and phrase titles
* Automatically get titles and meta data form IMDB etc.

Also would be nice if it could:
* Have nice user interface
* Start viedo directly from app
* Auto organize files
* Export playlists
* Linux capable ;)

Any ideas?

So far no I don't. I could point you to miro which isn't a KDE application but plays pretty nicely with the KDE settings(color,buttons,etc).
You could write it yourself?
If not hire somebody?
Make it an idea on brainstorm.

BTW: If we find a new mantainer for dragonplayer you might be able to use that. ;)

There is already at least one maintainer for Dragonplayer, but I don't think it's supposed to be a movie manager (hence the name :-P).

Eean is working on Phonon, Amarok and DragonPlayer.
There's also some other people working on it, but I don't remember their names. But I'm sure eean would welcome more contributors, but he's pretty strict on what features that can/should be added.

Hey lokas,

have you tried Tellico (http://tellico-project.org/), Xt7-Player (http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.ph ... tent=86197) or QMediaBibliothek (http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.ph ... ent=109347).

There are more then this on http://www.kde-apps.org, maybe you can find something useful there.

Not KDE, but Moovida is worth checking out. It's GPL and installable from the repo's of most distro's. Really nice interface, too.

Errr... Moovida...

If you're having trouble finding it under Kubuntu 9.04, look for Elysa. They changed the name from Elysa to Moovida a while back, but 9.04 might still be on the old name. 9.10 is under Moovida though.

Moovida's nice, but GStreamer does cause problems on some KDE systems...

Isn't 4.4 supposed to have some sort of full-screen media player plasmaoid?

Oh, you could also try XMBC, though I don't know how well it fares on KDE.
