There is no result. I test the command running mplayer and amarok at the same time without problems, but when I run another phonon application, like juK, the second application can't play sound. I'm not sure if this could be help. If I press test button, in Sound and Video configuration control panel, and next I run mplayer -ao alsa, mplayer can play music but I need to stop mplayer because test button don't works again. I test this problem with: configuration test sound, amarok, kaffeine and juK.

This seems to be an ALSA issue.
First, make sure libflashsupport has been removed ( Pulseaudio related ). Also remove the libxine1-pulse package. Then kill "pulseaudio". Do you experience the problem now? ( You should logout after doing the above, and log back in )

Thanks for your suggestions but, as I writed before: 1) I can play several ALSA applications without problem. 2) Pulseaudio is not installed in my system. I have only libpulse0 for dependency reasons so pulseaudio daemon is not running and I can't kill it .

Have you checked for those two packages I listed? Despite the fact Pulseaudio is mostly uninstalled and useless, unless those packages are removed you will have issues.

Yes, neither is installed. I dislike xine so I only have installed basic installation by phonon requirements.

Do you have either a file named ~/.asoundrc or /etc/asound.conf?

No, I only have a file named "/etc/asound.state". The fist lines are:
-------------------------------- state.Intel { control.1 { comment.access 'read write' comment.type INTEGER comment.count 2 comment.range '0 - 31' comment.dbmin -4025 comment.dbmax 1400 iface MIXER name 'Master Front Playback Volume' value.0 18 value.1 18 } ... -------------------------- and has 35 entries like previous. Is this the file you are looking for?

I test my problem in two other systems and, in both, there is no problem so I have something wrong or misconfigured in my system .
I try reinstalled all packages and delete all my local sound configuration files but the problem persists. Could be this problem related to my sound car drivers?.

It is usually related to ALSA not having DMix configured correctly ( or at all )

Well, but I only have this problem with Phonon . ALSA, an even jack applications, works fine. I even try to remove my soundcard an reconfigure again and problem persist. I try to find a solution this weekend.

Phonon applications are configured to use the correct device?

I think so. I only have two devices using Xine Engine: HDA Intel (VT1708B Analog) HDA Intel (VT1708B Digital) and the first is selected. If I select the second there is no sound at all.

This is purely a KDE/Phonon issue. When using other desktops, Xfce, for example, you can play as many applications with sound as you like simultaneously. The chaos might drive you crazy, but it is possible.

Thank you, I try it. The most frustrating is that using GStreamer a default device I found that there is no lock but now Amarok don't works well with GStreamer.
GStreamer works great for me and is really frustrating that its Phonon Engine was in an very alpha unstable state. Update: don't works for me so I only found an option that works, use GStreamer Phonon Engine and change Amarok for Exaile. New update: I don't know why but now the workaround works . Thank you so much to Daniel_Boff for the solution.
