Are you able to use non Phonon applications to play audio?

Try removing the Phonon configuration file: ~/.config/kde.org/libphonon.conf

Also, does your system have Pulseaudio enabled? ( ps aux | grep pulseaudio will return nothing if you do not use Pulseaudio )

I have 82801G and sound works without problems. I don't know what distribution are you using but a recommend you the next:
1) Uninstall pulseaudio.
2) Use your distribucion configuration program, delete the sound card and add it again.

If your distribution don't have that program you could use "alsaconf".

I have the same problem (may a different reason) but I get sound as a guest user but not when logging in as me. I however get the splash sound. When trying to configure the sound in desktop configuration using the multimedia button and click the test button, I get an error message that "The audio Playback... doesn't work"

@OroValley: Have you tried removing the Phonon configuration file: ~/.config/kde.org/libphonon.conf? Then logging out and back in again? Also, is Pulseaudio running? it doesn't play nice ( completely locking the audio device ) with non Pulseaudio applications.

None of my boxes give sound using Pulsaudio :((
The sound is working now as user "My wife" after changing some setings. I believe it was "allow user to make changes". (I tried so much) It always worked as guest user.
Thanks for suggestions.

Sounds like a permissions issue. Please try to run `sudo gpasswd -a username audio`.

I think you should reinstall the OS, your OS can be risked by viruses, so it can't realize the device.

What on earth does that mean? You don't even know which OS he is using, so your statement doesn't make any sense.

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...
