Bangarang

Fri Feb 19, 2010 5:48 pm
Hi forum friends,

today I would like to tell you abit about something I'm involved in and where I actively develop for. Its called Bangarang. Its a well integrated mediaplayer for KDE.

THE MEDIALISTVIEW
Image

This is the MediaListsView where you can select/rate/open new movies or audio files. In this view you can click on the check icon to add them to the playlist in the NowPlayingView. So when you have selected your audio-/videoitems you want to see just click on the play-button in the lower right corner of the window to start playng them.

This will switch to the NowPlayingView which will show a albumcover and the playlist.

You can rate each and every audiofile. Thanks to the massive work on Nepomuk-integration by jamboarder every rating you do will be saved in your Nepomuk database.

At the moment Bangarang works on all KDE versions since KDE4.3 and up.

If you like Bangarang you can go to the gitorious website and find out more about how far we are at the moment. If you want to know about the latest releases and news about bangarang visit the blog.If you have problems with bangarang post them here or come to our bug-tracking system. If you want to help us but dont know where to start I would like to point you to our JuniorJobs.

If you want the most recent and bleeding edge of bangarang just do a
Code: Select all
  git clone git://gitorious.org/bangarang/bangarang.git

in your favourite terminal emulator.

Questions? Ideas? Recommendations? Go ahead!

I have tried it and its good.

There is something which I think you should improve on. Bangarang changes the power profile to Presentation on my laptop and does not change it back to what it was on exit. I don't mind it making the change, but it should be temporary.
