I have a sony VGN-AR61M laptop, equipped with the following webcam:

Bus 001 Device 002: ID 05ca:1839 Ricoh Co., Ltd Visual Communication Camera VGP-VCC6 [R5U870]

I found a driver for it here, and it seems to work ok when using vlc:

but in kopete it doesn't work well:

This seems related to requested video resolution (see here)

Is there a way to specify webcam resolution in kopete configuration, or do you have any other suggestions ?

This is likely related to some issues Kopete has with Webcam support. Can you please re-test with KDE 4.4 if possible?

I am actually using kdemod 4.4 on Arch linux

In this case, Kopete isn't initialising the webcam correctly, please report a bug at bugs.kde.org.
