Hi everyone,
i have this problem. Under root i can see all the audio devices, but when i run phonon as normal user i only see one default audio device when i run systemsettings in konsole i can see this error multiple times systemsettings(6788)/phonon (KDE plugin): QDBusError("org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownObject", "No such object path '/modules/phononserver'") When i run systemsettings as root i do not see this error. Can anybody help me. I have tried multiple things as described in this forum such as deleting phonon config files in the kde directory and running kbuildsycoca4. Also reinstalling packages i thought might cause the problem Im running Gentoo with kde4.4.3. Google doesnt help me, i think im the only one with this 'dbus error' message |

Please check the permissions of your KDE installation. Also, please try running "kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental" then logging out and back in again.

What must I look for with the kde permissions. I already did the "kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental" and logging out. For several times.

All users should have at least read and execute permissions over the directory where KDE is installed ( including all sub-directories and files also )
If you are unsure on what to change, please consult your distribution documentation, as your package manager ( and the KDE installation procedure ) should have set the permissions appropriately.
