It seems for phonon in KDE 4.5 Beta 1, xine backend is broken. For a change, Gstreamer works fine.

Bug reports should not be raised in a forum, please report this to HTTP://bugs.kde.org, or to Launchpad as it could well be a packaging problem with your distro.

The intention was that, if someone confirms this issue, it might be a bug. As soon, as someone did, I created one too. I thought that's what forums are for. Why to unnecessarily burden bug lists with unconfirmed bugs ?

Because if there is a good bug report with reproducible steps, the triagers can reproduce it to confirm, all bugs are by default unconfirmed when submitted anyway. But a forum is not the place to report bugs to.

Fixed with updates from upstream. It could have been a packaging issue as well. The packages versioned 4:4.7.0really4.4.2 fixed this. Thanks
