Hi All! I'v noticed this problem:

I have an nVidia Geforce 310M on my laptop. the corresponding audio device is recognized by phonon which in fact suggest the device as a possible audio output in system settings. the problem is that no sound come from that device. nVidia card provides 4 output device:

**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: ALC275 Analog [ALC275 Analog]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 3: NVIDIA HDMI [NVIDIA HDMI]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 7: NVIDIA HDMI [NVIDIA HDMI]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 8: NVIDIA HDMI [NVIDIA HDMI]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 9: NVIDIA HDMI [NVIDIA HDMI]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

But only NVidia (card 1) device 3 is not working, while others (7, 8 and 9) are working. With vlc i can use it (using the 7 at the moment to listen audio). So the question is: how do i tell phonon to consider only card 1:device 7, 8 or 9?

Thanks...

I'v partially resolved the problem using the "Show advanced devices" option in the phonon configuration window and selecting the nVidia device number 7 that was working even with aplay.

It would be nice the ability to set the default device for a multiple devices sound card.
