Hi,
I am trying to get this one solved some time now, without any luck. I have recently re-installed Kubuntu 64 bits (kde 4.50 just now updated to 4.5.1). ( I hoped a clean install would work..it has worked before). If I start a KDE apps like Amarok I have sound in Amarok. But not in a non KDE app like VLC ...if I start a non KDE app I will not have sound in a KDE app like Dragon player. The work around is to completely close both apps and start the one I want to use to have sound. Strange thing is...in both cases the sound system Phonon keeps working (I get a testing sound). PS Backend is Xine. With KDE apps I mean: Dragonplayer, Amarok etc with non KDE apps I mean: VLC, Miro, mplayer, GCompris, etc Please help me, its bugging me to death and costing a lot of hours |

Do you have Pulseaudio installed? If you do, you need to ensure that libxine1-pulse is installed, along with the appropriate pulseaudio plugins for other applications.
