Hello,

I have searched for an answer to this question but have not seen anything that applies. I apologize up front if this has been covered elsewhere and I just missed it.

I am currently running KDE 4.6 on Kubuntu 10.10, using phonon with xine backend. Is there a way for me to configure the sound system so that when it detects communications through the default communications device it will reduce all other sounds by some amount (configurable). For example,
if I am listening to music, with my headset being the default output device, and I have a VOIP application running I want the output volume of the music to be reduced while receiving or sending over the VOIP application.

Thank You.

Phonon doesn't have this functionality unfortunately. If you are using Pulseaudio, it may have it though.
