Hi there,
I migrated from Gnome to KDE (Ubuntu 11.04 -> Kubuntu 11.04). I only switched the desktop (I installed ubuntu and not kubuntu). Everything works well except a little thing : I have sound, Amarok, VLC work. But when I use the [fn] keys or KMix (in the notification area and in full app), the system sound don't change. I have a visual feedback of the manipulation (with [fn] keys) on the desktop (the progress bar). But the sound level is the same (whatever at 0% or at 100%) I suppose there is something wrong with ALSA and Phonon, as the system was installed whith Gnome software (like ALSA if I well understood how sound work in GNU/Linux) while KDE affect Phonon who seems to be an equivalent to ALSA. Could someone help me ? It is very annoying because I can't control the global sound level of my computer. I have to change the sound level of all my apps manually (when it is possible). Nota Bene : I can control global sound level using 'alsamixer' in a terminal. I would like to remove such a dependance to ALSA and being able to control the sound from KDE. Thanks in advance. |

Ok, I reply to myself.
In fact Phonon was using Gstreamer (so ALSA should work). Put the master for sound was not on the correct channel. I don't understand what is the difference but : RV710/730 (HDMI) was selected instead of Audio internal analogic. |
