Greetings KDE users, I started using KDE only few days ago along with gentoo, so I'm a huge noob on both, bear with me if this question is dumb, I googled before posting, I swear!
Basically I have no audio for notification on kopete, I suppose the audio is missing on every kde program, but this is just a wild guess. Firefox play youtube videos fine with audio, skype notifications work fine so this shouldn't be an alsa problem. Here's a link of a notification I get at startup, what should I do? Any suggestion? Thanks for your time. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/18 ... ot1db.png/

Which exact KDE version is this about?
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

It's the 4.7.0
EDIT: Confirmed for not working with KDE apps, doesn't work with amarok. |

aplay give me this:
and in multimedia what should I look for? I tried to set the intel sound card as default but I doubt I managed to do it because after amarok was still silent. |

Okay, that is weird 'cos they are all marked as card 0 - I am not familiar with devices.
What distro are you using?

could it be Phonon problem?
what phonon backend are you using? amarok -> settings -> configure Amarok -> phonon -> back end also in the phonon config window the hardware tab has two buttons to test speaker setup can you try that and the hardware -> soundcard pull down are there multiple choices? |

Phonon isn't even in the list on amarok options...
I have HDA Intel (CONEXANT analog) and default, the test doesn't play anything, instead the same message of the screenshot I posted pop. Also, please, note that this isn't only amarok problem but probably every kde applications, and for me is more important to fix it on kopete for now, if that matter anyhow. Phonon isn't even in the kopete configuration window anyway. |

sorry it's amarok -> settings -> configure Amarok -> playback -> configure phonon -> back end (though you did get there)
have you installed phonon? if not I would suggest installing it and the vlc and/or gstreamer backends |

Phonon is installed, I'll try to install vlc and gstreamer backends too later, after emerge is done updating everything.
Sadly it take a while. Thanks for your time! |

I have installed those and in phonon->backend if I select vlc more sound cards pop out in the options, I did a test with them all but I couldn't hear a single sound.

what is in the tab device preferences -> audio playback -> music -> audio playback device preferences ? probably should be pulseaudio, is pulsaudio installed?

Where is that? I am installing pulseaudio right now. |

it's the first tab where you configure phonon within Amarok
I think that your KDE install was incomplete as it didn't include phonon and pulseaudio |
