I'm using kde 4.7.2 on archlinux with phonon-vlc backend. I recently did a upgrade which updated lots of stuff: kde 4.7.2, pulseaudio 1, vlc 1.1.12. And from then on i'm having noises(that happen in radio broadcasts) when any audio is playing. When selecting phonon-gstreamer as backend the noises disappear. What can be causing this? anyone else facing this or just me?

I have the same issue. Its not just phonon-vlc it is also in the VLC program itself and I had it in KDE 4.6

Seems to be a problem upstream. Here's a bug report for Arch: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/26341?p ... string=vlc (closed)
The recommended workaround seems to be to downgrade VLC.
