Hi there. I hope I've chosen the right section of the forum for this.
The problem I have with kmix should be the same one that's described here - https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=249508. I don't really know what I can add to this. I use asus xonar essence st card. KDE 4.6 "release 6" and kmix version 3.8 on OpenSUSE 11.4. It was configured to use and show pulseaudio channels(they were fine and I wasn't seeing the wrong behavior with them) as default but I've disabled pulse audio for the card and now kmix shows the alsa channels. Alsamixer is showing the sliders in the correct way. It's not really a problem but it's bugging me since I'm not yet used to it. In the bug report I linked above it is showed as resolved and there are some source codes made available as a solution. Can anyone please explain what exactly I must do in order to fix this? I'm still quite new in the linux world and still am getting used to the way things work, but I'm learning fast. Thanks. |

Why did you disable pulseaudio? That should not be necessary.
But in this case it is not really relevant. As https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=249508#c27 shows this is solved since September, but you are using an older KMix version. Please check with your distribution and upgrade to KMix 3.9. You will most likely need a newer KDE for that as well, current stable is KDE 4.7.3
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Is there any possibility that kmix 3.9 will work with KDE 4.6 ?
I might try installing it that way and hope for the best. I don't really think I'd like to update KDE just to fix this little annoyance. I disabled pulse audio because it was giving me problems - the logs were full of "ratelimit.c events suppressed" and there was some unwanted delay just after login. Is there any alternative to kmix actually in case that's the only way to go? Or maybe I'll just get used to the sliders being that way. Thanks. |

OK I have something new to add.
I installed KDE 4.7.3 and Kmix 3.9. The problem with the wrong scaling on the slider is still here. Any more suggestions? |

Try removing the old configuration file for kmix: $HOME/.kde4/share/config/kmixrc

You may also wish to remove the kmixctrlrc configuration file, which is a seperate part of KMix which could be causing issues here. It can be found in $HOME/.kde4/share/config as well.

Thanks!
I did delete them but the problem still persists after logout-login. Here are the contents of these files if this will be of any help: kmixrc:
kmixctrlrc:
Is this bug supposed to be fixed in this 3.9 release? can you point me to any other configuration files of importance maybe? |

I don't really know what else you could do but comment on the above mentioned bug so the developer gets notified. Please point him to this forum post.
