After I got myself a new video card I had to switch from nouveau to nvidia (295.20-1, got the utils installed as well). Since then I do not see my monitor (on DVI) and my beamer (on VGA) any more in systemsettings. I've tried removing /etc/X11/xorg.conf generated by nvidia to get the old functionality back but no can do. ATM I'm stuck with the nvidia driver GUI thing EDITand I have to restart X to switch from monitor to beamer.../EDIT I've run out of ideas as to what else I could try to get systemsettings to play along nicely. Any ideas out there? Many thanks in advance.

This is probably because the NVidia driver does not play nice in general... it does not support XRandR from what I recall - which is probably why System Settings does not see the output devices.
Does "xrandr" show the outputs?

Thanks for the quick reply
Alas, nope - it only sees the monitor:
But I can now switch between monitor and beamer using the nvidia-settings GUI - still better than having to restart X. Suppose I can mark this as solved.
