I am still waiting for this program to reappear in KDE4.x Is there some news I have missed? Or is there another app to produce booklets? Thanks for updatein me.

By "booklets" are you meaning having multiple pages printed on to a single physical page?
If so, this option is already available inside KDE applications to an extent, by expanding Options then selecting the Pages tab. No actual "kprinter" tool is available at this time I am afraid.

By Booklet I understand for exemple 8 pages A4 to be printed on two sheets A4, giving Sheet 1 front: page 8 + 1, back: 2+7, sheet 2 front 6+3, back 5+4.
On the console it works with the commands
However, kprinter did that in a graphic envirnoment and had some more possible features.

If you wish for that to be reimplemented in the KDE 4 printing system, I suggest you file a feature request at bugs.kde.org.
Unfortunately the system is a little constrained by it's need to be compatible in certain regards with Windows/Mac, as it comes from Qt itself in quite a few areas.
