Kate / KWrite highlitghing schema

Sun Sep 07, 2014 8:19 am
Hello,

for certain log files I want to create a new color text high lighting schema for Kate / KWrite.

In KWrite, when I go to Schema==>New KWrite seem to want to create a complete new schema.

Is there a way to just extend the existing Kate / KWrite highlighting schemas with your own syntax definitions?

I think I now look where the Kate / KWrite highlighting definitions are stored and maybe I can add my own syntax there?

Thanks

I just tried and it is as simple as copying one of the existing ones and making adjustments from there (which is convenient since I recently built a DSL for work, and having a custom language definition is nice). Kate/kwrite picked the new syntax file right up the next time I opened it.
Apparently the Kate handbook has an appendix dedicated to custom syntax highlighting if you have any questions of the sort (which I will be consulting shortly).
