Hi,
I'm new to kate, so I don't know if I'm misunderstanding the documentation or if it is outdated or if I have a bug but I can't see the Add... menuitem.

Documentation:
If Escape sequences or Regular expression are selected, the Add... menuitem at the bottom of the context menu of the text boxes will be enabled and allows you to add escape sequences or regular expression items to the search or replace pattern from predefined lists.

Could it be that I'm using Kate in a i3wm instead of KDE?

Any direction would be appreciated.
Thanks for reading.

Your screenshots shows the default Search & Replace bar (https://docs.kde.org/trunk5/en/applicat ... place-bars) with the "Add" menuitem at the bottom of the context menus in the Search and Replace field at the top and below the Search & Replace bar (https://docs.kde.org/trunk5/en/applicat ... files.html) from the plugin Search & Replace, where the Search and Replace field do not have the "Add" menuitem in the context menu

Sorry for challenging your patience but I still don't see it, maybe bacause I'm expecting an Add buttom that when pressed it'd display a list. Here it is a screenshot of my default Search & Replace Bar, could you please point it out the coordinate where it is?

What is your version of kate?
In the kf5 version you have to click with your right mouse button in the Find input field 1/D - 1/N or in the Replace input field 2/D - 2N to open a context menu with the item "Add" at the bottom.
