Eager as always to keep up with the latest technology, I just traded in my notepad and pen for a Palm Pilot. I would like to be able to sync it to my contacts and calendar, etc., in Linux (Mandriva 2008.1), but Kpilot, which I assume is the utility I would use, cannot find the device. it complains that I must be using a USB connection (which I am). I tried finding the device using Konqueror and checking /dev and /mnt and /media, but no luck.
Any ideas?

have you looked at http://www.tuxmagazine.com/Syncing_a_Palm_to_KOrganizer and the device settings section? Or the kpilot faq ?

I found a different URL - http://howto-pages.org/palm_z22/ - that pretty much walked me thru what I needed.
Thank goodness I took a course in Linux a few years ago! The Kaddressbook did work out well for syncing addresses into the Palm Pilot. Thanks again.
