Hello,
I recently upgraded to KDE 4.4 on my Kubuntu 9.10 install, and found that, when it is launched from the terminal, Kate produces lots of log messages in the terminal (see below for an example), which I really don't want to see. Does anyone know how to hide these messages? Thank you in advance.

Hi,
I've deselected all the Kate-related things in kdebugdialog, but I still get the messages. |

Because the messages above aren't printed by Kate, but by parts of the kde libraries. Taking a part of your output:
In each line, the part between "/" and the "WordLikeThis::" is the name of the debug area of that message, if any.

OK thanks, this works. I was able to get rid of these annoying messages.
Now I have another problem: I'm writing in French using accents like "ê", "è" and so on. Normally, when I type the accent, it waits until I type the next letter to correctly print it, e.g., "^e"="ê". Since I updated to KDE 4.4, I am not able to do that any more: in all the KDE apps (but not the non-KDE ones), when I type "^e" it is displayed the characters are displayed independently. How can I recover the normal behaviour? Thank you |

From http://membrive.es/2010/02/12/arregland ... y-kde-4-4/ I see that Kubuntu had that kind of problem. Try removing plasma-widget-kimpanel-backend-ibus and plasma-widget-kimpanel, and/or use qtconfig to set XIM as input method.
