Quanta replacement

Mon Mar 01, 2010 1:08 pm
I have just upgraded my Mandriva installation which includes KDE4 and am amazed to discover that Quanta is no longer available. I am a freelance web designer and have been using Quanta for some years as my editor of choice, using it on a daily basis.

I found another post on this forum dating back to 2009 which advised that Quanta will not be available for KDE4 but may return for KDE5. In the meantime Amaya was suggested as a possible replacement. I have now installed Amaya and initially am finding it slows my work as I am unfamiliar with the way it works.

Is it possible to run the previous version of Quanta from KDE3 under KDE4? The file for kdewebdev can no longer be downloaded so I cannot check this. Where can this package be found? When will Quanta return, if ever?

don't see why not - if Mandriva has a supplementry kde3 repo for your release and you add it thru the package manager then the needed kde3 libraries should also be installed. Pretty sure that's the way it works in openSuse

Might wish to post on the appropriate Mandriva forum
