Kile - How to deactivate "return" for using auto completion

Greetings,

I am using Kile 2.0.85.

I am very happy with Kile, but I have an annoying problem. I like the auto completion because it is great if I forgot the correct spelling of a command or to get a list from all labels I defined in my document. So I don't really want to deactivate it.

I am typing quite fast so this problem occurs several times when I am writing LaTeX Code. The problem is the following:

I am typing and press "return". But "return" isn't just for breaking the line, it also uses the first entry of the auto completion list if there is any. Because I am typing so fast, I usually don't see the auto completion list of possible words I can complete, so Kile completes the word even when I didn't want Kile to do so. For example, I am typing the German word for "and" which is "und". When watching on my paper that I want to write in LaTeX, I usually don't recognize instantly that he completed the word. "und" is usually completed to "underbrace" which is really annoying. This isn't the only case where Kile completes a word and I don't want Kile to do so.

Hm...hard to describe for me, but I hope you got it.

I don't want to deactivate auto completion for the reason I mentioned above. I just want that "return" doesn't choose the first word of the auto completion list. I want to press another key first like "tab" or "arrow down" and THEN "return" for choosing it.

Is it possible? If yes: How? Or do I have to deactivate auto completion completely?

Kind regards,

I do not know if there is a way to set another key to auto completion, but you can reduce it to LaTeX commmands and such. In Kile deactivate "Settings -> Configure Kile -> Editing -> Auto Completion -> Auto Word Completion", LaTeX completion is set at "Settings -> Configure Kile -> Kile -> Complete"

Out of curiosity, in which cases would you type "und" and hit return directly after the word?

Hi :),

I am breaking my code at least when I reach 113 characters in a line. I choose 113, because my small notebook can display about 113 characters in a row without the toolbar enabled on the left side. And after all, 13 is a number I like ;).

I don't like the auto-break feature (word wrap), so I am doing this manually and activated a "static word wrap marker" at 113 characters :).

Kind regards,

guy.brush

Edit: Oh, I just noticed a 2nd situation where I press return: When typing stuff like
Code: Select all
Let a = b, then we get % RETURN %
\[
  foobar
\]

and similar situations :)
