Mon Sep 16, 2013 9:15 am
hello,
how to create an incremental field attribute to each new entry a number increased by one compared to the previous entry?

Hi,

I don't believe that is possible, although I stand to be corrected.

Depending upon what you require it for, could you possibly use the internal ID number that is assigned when an entry is created? That increments by one for each entry.

Sorry, unsure what you are asking. Hope the following helps.

The ID field is an internal field the first entry in a new database being 1, it is incremented each time a new entry is made.

This is how it appears on the Collection Fields (Ctrl+U) - (Sorry about the Windows lookalike style :D )

It is only shown when using the 'Compact' template, unless you modify the template you normally use.

You are also able to add the field to the 'Column' View. (Right click on column header => Columns => ID)

Be aware that the ID is not permanently tied to an entry. If there have been deleted entries and you export the database and subsequently re-import it, the IDs will not be the same.

thank you for the information that help me out, I could see the ID field but empty as I thought did not appear to create a new entry, I board therefore had the idea to display it in Farcy the model or try the Compact model ..

pity that these identifiers are not permanent ...
