Hi -
I am a happy Tellico user and have been for a while now using it to catalog my album collection. Recently, though, an issue has appeared. My typical workflow was to open the program and use the search query to look albums up on discogs by catalog number. It's a great feature and has been reliable until now. The search query still functions in all respects, as far as I can tell, except that now an error informing me that the image cannot be downloaded with each returned search item I click on. An entry here and there I would expect, but it's every entry now. In fact, I have to take a picture of any album I want to add to my collection now or seek it out online. Scrot works well on the discogs site. A cursory search on these forums leads me to believe I may suffer alone. I'm not sure if I did anything on my machine to effect the function of tellico. ~/ permissions are solid, and the only recent (as in almost ever, really) change to my system is a largish (including the kernel) Debian update/upgrade. That upgrade produced no issue on all of my systems and I cannot correlate it's occurrence to Tellico's new refusal to fetch album cover images. Are there logs I should be checking out somewhere specific to this? Below is a jigle generated page of 3 successive screenshots of said failure. Thanks for your time. http://bk.homelinux.com/house/tellico/web/ |

Please run "kdebugdialog", and ensure all debug output is enabled. Then tail ~/.xsession-errors while trying to access a image through Tellico and see if any relevant errors are output.
Note that KIO slaves (used to perform network access in KDE applications) are executed separately, so it is not sufficient to simply execute Tellico on it's own through a terminal and examine that output - we need to watch over the session output as well.

I think Discogs is requiring authentication to download images via the API now. I need to update Tellico to support that. Taking a quick look, I need to think about how to implement a "secret" key in software on a public server...it's not clear to me at first glance. http://www.discogs.com/forum/thread/52950c194c5e2e7adca760a0 I could suggest you do the initial search on Discogs, then maybe an update via MusicBrainz, Amazon, Freebase or some other source to see if the cover art comes in. That might save you from doing screenshots. Failing that, you can also drag the image directly from your browser into the Tellico "Edit Entry" dialog. |

Yeah, that's what I figured it was.
I never tried such a thing. Handy. |
