change Image viewer in Tellico

Mon Jun 09, 2014 7:18 pm
Howdy,

Question:
I have entered a number of books using the book template in Tellico.
Now when I click on the image it opens it in fire fox, with a small version of the image.
Is there any way to view the images in there larger sizes without using firefox?
Does tellico have it's own internall image viewer?
If so please let me know how to change this.

Thanks

No internal viewer. Tellico just uses whatever application is setup within KDE to open that specific image type. That's done from right-clicking in Dolphin, for example, or opening the System Settings.

If you're after a more image centric, KDE viewer I would suggest ensuring Gwenview is installed on your system.

Hi Thanks for the suggestion of Gwenview.

Can I change Tellico to use this to display the images?
If so how do I do that??

Thanks :-)

Which desktop environment are you using? This is normally done from within System Settings under KDE.

Okay - do you use Unity, GNOME or KDE as your desktop environment?

In any case, you should be able to use System Settings to configure this. Please be aware you need to look for "KDE System Settings" if you do not use a Plasma Workspace - as GNOME uses the same name for their control centre as well.

Open System Settings > File Associations, and expand the "image" category on the left hand side, then select the type of file. Afterwards, ensure "Gwenview" is at the top of the application preference order. Please note though that Gwenview should usually be preferred over Firefox if it is installed.

(If Gwenview is not installed you can use your package manager to install it).

Thanks,
Hi,

I could not find the system settings for KED in Unity, but did find the ./kde/share/config/tellicorc
Edited the tellicorc
Found and changed the default viewer

Changed:

[EditImage]
editor=Firefox Web Browser

To:
[EditImage]
editor=Gwenview
No I can see the images in Gwenview in stead of Firefox when I click on an image in tellico.

Thanks for the help.

Thanks for posting the solution - i've now marked this as solved. It appears based on this that Tellico has it's own settings.
As for System Settings - you likely needed to install a separate package to be able to access this application, as it is part of the Plasma workspace.
