Hi

I just copied over my Tellico book database as well as images, with the exact same directory structure as
my current working copy, to my new computer.
Now when I open the MyBooks on the new computer I get all the records, etc. but the images associated
with the individual book entries have a black box with a question mark in them.
Is there something I need to do to refresh the images in the book database on the new computer to get the images back??.

As I mentioned the database and images are copied like for like from the orginal source my primary computer to the new one.

Thanks
For the great help and this awsome App.

Can you check in the Tellico Settings on your new computer that Tellico is set to store images in a directory relative to the data file? I'm assuming that is how you had your settings on your old computer. Also, on your old computer, you can File->Export Zip which will give you a .tc file that includes all your images and you can just copy that single file to your new location.

Thanks I will try this and post my results.

I did read the online manual and found the entry for the images.
What I think I did was when I 1st created the database sometime back I had gone with the default checke "store images in data file" I believe
this is tellico's default.
I then read that to speed up the database it is best to select "store images in common application directory".
Which a then selected so all my images can stay in the image directory.
Also when I looked inside the *.tc file I could see image locations for both internal for the older entries and image
locations for the directory method which as metioned I switched later on.

Just out of curosity which is the best method for images related to the database?

I have a Lot and have them housed in a directory in my book database location under
\Database\Tellico\MyBooks\Images

Thanks for all the help

The common application directory is going to be .kde/share/apps/tellico/data/. So if you wanted to copy that entire directory to your new computer, in the same location, that would work. From your other comment, I'm not sure you're on a Linux machine? Are you using Windows somehow?

But the easiest is to File->Export Zip on the old computer, copy over that .tc file, then on the new computer do File->Import Tellico and choose Replace collection.. and save your new file wherever you want it.

Storing images in a directory, rather than in the data file itself is much much faster once you get any real number of images in your collection. Some folks like to keep the images in the same directory as the .tc file, while other like keeping them out of the way in the common KDE directory, so those are the other two options.

Thanks!

I'am using Linux Ubuntu 14.10 so the default Gui is not KDE, but Unity 8 I belive non the less thanks for this.
I have done the import and it worked fine on the other computer.
What I have done for my images is I have a /database/Images directory for all my images.
However the other suggestions are worth thinking about as well.
