G'day,
Although not much, I figure best to contribute at least a "token" something (a little info that maybe somebody out there finds useful?) before I ask my question. After a few years of frustration trying to setup a "French-Acadian" (from my corner o' the world) dictionary as a Google Site, I have just recently discovered and started playing around with Tellico, and I'm thinking this is the way to go. [*] My "work in progress" Side-note: I am using Tellico version 2.3.9 from Debian's stable (i.e. Stretch) repository, installed on, would you believe, a Linux-Beta-enabled Chromebook. (yeah, just enough computer to get this old-timer's geek-mojo going.) The only thing that I've found off-putting: that long column in the created "index" page, and the "title" at the top of the column. At the moment, my solution is to, upon every export to HTML, edit the index file by (1) removing that table header and (2) adding a "newspaper" style and (3) wrapping the table with the following div: .newspaper { -webkit-column-count: 4; /* Chrome, Safari, Opera */ -moz-column-count: 4; /* Firefox */ column-count: 4; } <div class="newspaper"> <table> ... </table> </div> Instead of tweaking the generated index file with the above every time, what exactly (if possible) can I change just the one time ? Much appreciated! Cheers and best regards ! |

Nice!
Are you familiar with XSLT at all? You'll want to edit the tellico2html.xsl file. You can copy a version of the system file into your home $HOME/.kde/share/config/tellico/ directory and edit it there. Tellico should pick up the changes then. You might be able to figure where to put your HTML edits there without worrying about the XSL around it. |

I'd say not even a little, but I've started playing with some of the CSS I recognize, while gingerly glancing at the XSLT. Fearless am I, so dipping my toes into the XSLT pond, and getting ready for some deep-diving. Knowing me, and aside from my sloth-like reflexes and speed, I can see me taking all sorts of wonky turns. Which make for fun journeys sometimes ... All o' that said, if anybody has thoughts on getting me there before I get significantly balder and grayer, I will have virtual hugs a-plenty ! Thanks, Robby. This seems like the perfect product for my "collection of words." Aside: I had also been looking at Zim (and TiddlyWiki+TiddlyDesktop) and Freeplane (and Vym); all really sweet products too, but louzy for a job that involves no-fuss-no-muss manipulation of structured data. (Going forward, the test: how big a collection can Tellico handle? I'm suspecting that won't be a problem.) Cheers ! |

For nothing but text, Tellico should be fine with a huge collection. With many large images, that tends to slow things down. I've struggled to handle large collections with large images in an efficient manner. |
