[idea] Tellico mimicing Devonthink

Tue Dec 01, 2020 3:59 pm
Hi All,

This is my first post here. I have recently moved to KDE from long time mac use and also back on linux after a long time. I got used to Devonthink for mac. i was wondering if Tellico can be adapted to mimic Devonthink. I personally am not a programmer and i dont have much knowledge. I am curious to know if anyone already has thought of this and if there are any efforts in place.

cheers

I'm not familiar with Devonthink at all. From looking at their website, I can share a few thoughts. Tellico won't ever have a mobile (iOs or Android) app, at least by me. My hobbies don't run in that direction. Tellico won't move documents, organize them, or do any sort of annotation. There's no web interface or document searches from Tellico. It would let you have links to various documents and can read basic info from PDF metadata, such as title, author and year, but that's about it.

I don't have plans for any of those aspects. Tellico, at its heart, is just a pretty basic database, or list of information about records. As I'm able or requested, sometimes I can add improvements in specific areas, usually for importing data form other formats or software. If you decide to give Tellico a try and have some additional ideas for areas of improvements, I'd appreciate hearing them!
