Tellico was suggested to me as an alternative to cd-cat, doesn't work with qt5 and appears to be no longer supported. Initially it appears to do what I need, but with one big exception, to which I've been unable to find a solution!
The problem: I do a lot of video editing, and have a lot of "stock" footage, as well as new files coming and going all the time. These are stored across several hard drives - let's call them HD1, HD2, HD3 and HD4 for simplicity. I have created a collection and scanned the drives, creating volumes within the collection of HD1, HD2, etc. So far, so good. It is easy to search for what I want. BUT: The files within those volumes change, as new items are added and old ones deleted. For the life of me, I have been unable to find out how to re-scan the media (HD1, etc) to bring the contents up to date. In cd-cat (and Gwhere before it) this was very simple, but as far as I can see, there is no facility to do this within Tellico. I'm sure it must be possible, but I can't see it in the documentation. Is it so simple that I've overlooked it? Any pointers gratefully received! -- Pete |

Unfortunately, Tellico doesn't have that functionality. It can re-scan the volume and merge into the current collection, but that won't remove the existing entries for files that were removed. I can think of a few workarounds, like separate collection files for each volume, or deleting existing file entries for a volume before re-scanning, but they're all "painful" or prone to miss something. I'll add a wishlist item for the re-scan/update capability for the file catalog, https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=464546. |

Thanks for that! I've been struggling to find a replacement for cdcat, and Tellico is the closest I've found. Its just missing that one important piece of functionality for my needs!
Again, thanks! -- Pete |
